Another Goodwe ESA battery installation completed by the team at CTI Solar. We installed a 13kw solar array matched with a 33kwh battery and 10kw Inverter with blackout protection. This battery install was a bit of a challenge due to the existing sloping surface. Our solution was to cast up a concrete footing onsite to ensure a stable and level foundation that will last. A thought for a Friday night. There seems to be a big push for electric vehicles in Australia. This will put a big additional load on the electricity supply. The experts are saying people will commute to work in their electric cars and then charge them up while at work. In my opinion this will create a bigger demand for electricity during the day, and result in soaking up excess solar power that is exported into the grid, which is a good thing and should attract higher feed in tarrifs for solar export. Tim & Skai lead a typical busy life with their 2 children in Whyalla, always on their mobile devices, TV's on in every room and happy to keep comfortable using their air-conditioning.
In June last year, we supplied and fitted a 6.6kw solar system for them so they no longer had to worry about their energy bills. Since then they have received 2 bills and to say they are over the moon is an understatement!
Historically for the past two quarters, they usually amass a bill of between $800 and $1000 so for them, bills of $114 & $77 were laughable!

13.2kw system we installed this week for a Whyalla customer. Fronius Symo Inverter with Jinko 330w solar panels. This house has a 3 phase supply so we were able to install a 10kw Inverter. We have had a busy start of the year, installing mainly 6.6kw systems. Have received feedback from customers who have had the 6.6kw system installed last year. Most are in credit with their electricity bills, One customer in particular originally had a 1.5kw system and was receiving the 60c feed in tariff, with bills of around $400. Customer wanted to reduce as much as possible. We removed the old system and installed a new 6.6kw system, now he is in credit by $200 on his last bill. So going up a little over four times the panel output, but dropping the feed in rate by about four times as well results in ... a net improvement of $600 per quarter? The prior installation must have been quite poor.

Recently completed this 25kw solar system for Danny at Eyre Trading Whyalla. This system is expected to produce enough solar power to cover the day time loads of the business Monday to Friday. On the weekends when the business is closed the solar system will export most of solar power produced back into the grid, covering most of night time power usage which is minimal. Expected payback is less than 2 years.

This communication is to advise industry participants and SA Power Networks customers of changes to Grid connection of energy system via inverters – installation requirements (AS/NZS 4777.1:2016).
Introduction of a 5kW limit for a single phase connection will be enforced by SA Power Networks as of the 1st of December 2017, a three phase connection shall have a balanced output with respect to its rating with a tolerance of no greater than 5kW unbalance between any phases.

Go and offer your services to the S.A Housing Trust, we low income tennants are forgotten about and we need solar panels on our homes to cut costs, more than anyone. its really unfair when you dont own the home and cant do a darn thing about it! id love solar on my home, but could never afford it, the trust should be footing the bill. they have even stopped installing solar hot water systems and i missed out on that aswell. Maybe if you could come up with a price on a smaller scale, down the track they might concider putting them on! As broke as they claim to be, these houses are going to need up-grading eventually to keep up with society. Sorry but frustrated!
