REAL, BIG, $AVING$!

Tim & Skai lead a typical busy life with their 2 children in Whyalla, always on their mobile devices, TVs on in every room and happy to keep comfortable using their air-conditioning.

In June last year, we supplied and fitted a 6.6kw solar system for them so they no longer had to worry about their energy bills. Since then they have received 2 bills and to say they are over the moon is an understatement!

Historically for the past two quarters, they usually amass a bill of between $800 and $1000 so for them, bills of $114 & $77 were laughable!

Dont think about it anymore! Get in contact with us right away so you too can save enormous money with solar just like Tim & Skai and our hundreds of other satisfied customers!

Find out more on our website at www.ctisolar.com.au or call Jeremy on 0438 807 383.

We have had a busy start of the year, installing mainly 6.6kw systems. Have received feedback from customers who have had the 6.6kw system installed last year. Most are in credit with their electricity bills, One customer in particular originally had a 1.5kw system and was receiving the 60c feed in tariff, with bills of around $400. Customer wanted to reduce as much as possible. We removed the old system and installed a new 6.6kw system, now he is in credit by $200 on his last bill. This is with the 60c feed in tariff removed, now on 16.6c feed in tariff. Call 0438807383 or email sales@ctisolar.com.au for a quote or more information.Image attachmentImage attachment

So going up a little over four times the panel output, but dropping the feed in rate by about four times as well results in ... a net improvement of $600 per quarter? The prior installation must have been quite poor.

Hi Jeremy. Have you heard anything about our approval from the council? It's been 3 months now. -H. Aran

Is there a limit for 3ph systems Jeremy?

Ricky Aran

How and why the hell are they dong this. Is it actually legal??

So they don't want people having more than 5kw solar systems. Predictable. Gotta make sure people still have a bill to pay. Yeah, I'm cynical, but I'm disappointed less often that way.

How much for 3 ph 10kw installed in nelshaby

That’s insane, the BEST path is lots of small scale production and they should be subsidising battery’s to be called on in high load. If you have one big thing and it fails you have nothing, in small scale production you have abundant redundancy so failures don’t bring down systems.

Ah so fingers crossed for Whyalla, and I hope you score the contract that would be stable work set for the company for a few good years! Think we still have 1500 homes in whyalla, alot have been sold off over time! Thanks!

Go and offer your services to the S.A Housing Trust, we low income tennants are forgotten about and we need solar panels on our homes to cut costs, more than anyone. its really unfair when you dont own the home and cant do a darn thing about it! id love solar on my home, but could never afford it, the trust should be footing the bill. they have even stopped installing solar hot water systems and i missed out on that aswell. Maybe if you could come up with a price on a smaller scale, down the track they might concider putting them on! As broke as they claim to be, these houses are going to need up-grading eventually to keep up with society. Sorry but frustrated!

I would like to take this opportunity to explain to people that are interested how solar power is worth having to reduce electricity bills even with the 6c per kw/h feed tariff. In this case we installed a 5.94kw solar system, the owners spend most of the day at home. They will consume a large chunk of the solar power produced and export little back to the grid. So while they are consuming solar power, they are saving 0.33c per kw/h that they dont have to import from the grid. When the excess solar power is exported back to the grid they will receive around 6c kw/h. This system will produce on average 24kw/h per day over a year based on 20 years of weather data. If the owner consumes 80% of the solar power produced, which is 19.2kw/h and exports the remaining 4.8kw/h, the customer will save 19.2 x 0.33c = $6.36 per day plus get 4.8 x 0.06c = 28.8c per day in credit, totalling $6.64 per day. Multiply this by the 90 day billing cycle = $597 per quarter or $2390.4 per year. This system will pay for itself in under 3 years. As can be seen from this example it is best to consume as much solar power as possible and export as little as possible if you are on the 6 c per kw/h feed in tarrif. For people who are on the 50c plus feed in tariff, do the opposite, export as much during the day as you can because your exporting at a higher price than importing power. The key for people with recently installed solar systems is to consume as much solar power as possible, run your pool pumps, dishwashers, dryers, washing machines etc during the day, turn on you airconditioners early in the day to cool your house. As battery storage becomes cheaper, excess solar power can be stored then reused at night instead of exporting back to the grid. I hope I have explained things clearly, please feel free to ask any questions. Cheers

Surely it's not all a scam?? I'm the biggest sucker if so 😬

Energy company will like that more cheap power to sell.

As of April 1 SA Power Networks are restricting new solar power systems to 5kw for domestic properties with a single phase supply. Currently the ruling is up to 10kw. No worries at all Michelle Atkinson

I have spoken to SAPN again today to get more info regarding limiting new solar power systems to 5kw for single phase supplies from April 1. The ruling SAPN are required to follow is stated in Australian Standard AS4777.1 This Thursday (30th March 2017) an amendment to an Australian Standard becomes mandatory. That standard is AS/NZS 4777.1:2016 or ‘Grid connection of energy systems via inverters, Part 1: Installation requirements‘ What is AS 4777.1? It is the Australian Standard that mandates how solar and battery (and wind) inverters are connected to the grid. It was released on 30th September 2016 with a 6 month grace period. That grace period ends on 30 March 2017. So all solar and battery systems that are installed from this Thursday must comply. The second paragraph of Section 2.3 of AS/NZS 477.1:2016 states: Unless specifically stated by the electricity distributor, the rating limit for a single-phase IES in an individual installation shall be equal to 5 kVA, SAPN has told me today that they have no choice other than to follow this ruling. A solar power system up to 10kw for a single phase supply will be approved up to midnight on the 31st of March and must be installed in a timely fashion. After midnight 31st of March the maximum size allowed will be 5kw. Just to clarify, 5KVA is 5kw when power factor is 1. I hope this clears thinks up for some people.

Hi Vito, prices start at $3500 for a 3.5kw fully installed. Assuming tin roof and single story, Cheers Jeremy

Recent install for a customer in Whyalla. The original 1.5kw system had a failed Sharp Inverter. The owner decided to upgrade to a 5.3kw system as his electricity bills were around the $500 mark even with the big feed in tariff that was offered when originally installed. We installed a 20 panel system using ET 265 watt solar panels and a Goodwe 5kw dual input inverter. Panels were installed on East and West facing roof faces which is a good option for self consumption of solar power. This system was installed for $4800 including removal of existing system. Hi Lisa, you may lose your rebate depending on the size system that was originally approved. However if you are getting a significant electricity bill, it may be worth losing the rebate to install a larger system to lower your electricity bill. Cost will depend on whether a larger capacity inverter is required and how many extra panels needed. I can give you a quote if you like. Cheers

Hi Mandy in this case the panels were faulty, but yes more panels can usually be added to existing system.

Carro Carruthers?

Very Happy with ours πŸ™‚

Mark Hawes

Is it still worth putting panels on with the tarrif gone?

Does the customer still retain his original rebate after the new installation?

Tammy Sneddon

Damien Rasmus

Alan Curtis Cindy Curtis Mitchell Thomas for future reference

Robert Broadway

I hope this isn't a stupid question, but why do the original panels need removal? Can't you just add more?

David Hackshaw

If u add more panels to existing system do u loose what ur electricity company rebates back to you? And whats average price for extra panels?

David Johnson

Here is a link to reviews on JA solar panels www.solarquotes.com.au/panels/ja-solar-review.html

Have you solor guys got together and formed some sort of association to lobby the government about feed in tarrifs. The electricity companies buy our electricity for 6 cents and sell it back to us for about 27 cents. Hardly fair to the consumer and it must be damaging your businesses as well. Just a thought.

Hi Digger Ernesti There may be an issue with your solar system or you may need to expand the existing system. Let me know if I can help. Cheers

Just to add to my answer to Pj Mitchell question, the CEC which is the Clean Energy Council, allows up to an extra 33% of solar panel capacity over the Inverter rating so long as the inverter manufacturer allows it. The Fronius comes with a certificate from the manufacturer stating that up to an additional 50% can be added. See attached link www.fronius.com/cps/rde/xbcr/SID-7EA081E2-47156866/fronius_usa/SE_CER_Oversizing_Fronius_Primo_3....
