HOME OWNER: YOUNG FAMILY
Young family of 3 had an existing 1.5kw solar system and receiving 60c/kwh feed in tariff.
Solution: CTI Solar studied the home owners electricity bill and found that all of the solar power from the small solar system was being consumed by the house hold electrical loads. Meaning that zero power was exported into the grid and not receiving any credits at 60c per kwh. The solution was to install additional solar panels to cover the day time loads and export excess solar power back into the grid. In this case, with the high 60c/kwh feed in tariff, when adding extra panels this feed in tariff will be lost and revert back to the retailer only feed in tariff of 16c/kwh.
As space was limited and the inverter needed replacing anyway CTI Solar suggested the original system be removed and a new 6.6kw system be installed. The Customer agreed. CTI Solar installed a Fronius Primo Inverter with 300w Jinko Solar panels.
We installed a 25kw Solar System on the available roof space using a Fronius Symo Inverter and 300w Jinko Solar Panels.
On weekends when the business is closed and airconditioner turned off, the solar system exports most of its power back into the grid which is paid as credits. This offsets any power used at night, which is minimal.
Payback for this system is around 2.5 years in this case.
